Petri Heino

Petri Heino is a seasoned expert in the forest-based bioeconomy and wood construction sector, with decades of experience spanning publicpolicies, strategic partnerships and international collaboration in timber construction. 

As CEO of m2impact, he is responsible for strategic partnerships, supply chain development, and executive-level stakeholder relations. 

Heino has an extensive network across the Finnish and international construction ecosystem, particularly among timber manufacturers, industry stakeholders, and public authorities. His expertise includes coordinating complex business relationships and facilitating collaboration between markets. 

Throughout his career, Heino has held key leadership roles across both the public and private sectors. He previously served as Director of the National Wood Building Programme at the Finnish Ministry of the Environment, where he led the government’s wood construction agenda and initiated and co-chaired the European Wood Policy Platform (woodPoP). This platform brings together public and private actors across Europe to advance sustainable wood-based value chains and policy development.  

His earlier experience includes positions at the Finnish Forest Industries Federation, Wood Focus, and as Managing Director of the Finnish Timber Council, as well as consulting and research roles in wood construction and design. Across these roles, he developed deep expertise in research and development management, policy advocacy, and industry promotion.  

Since the 1990s, Heino has focused on advancing the sustainable use of wood in construction, building a broad international network that spans industry, government, and research communities. He has also organized numerous international architecture and wood construction excursions, further strengthening collaboration and knowledge exchange in the field. 

Heino holds a Master of Science in Forest Products Marketing from the University of Helsinki.

Mikko Leino

Mikko Leino is one of Finland’s leading experts in mass timber construction, with over 20 years of experience delivering large-scale, sustainable building projects. 

His work combines deep technical knowledge with a practical, solution-oriented approach to procurement, structural design coordination, and project delivery.  

He has held senior leadership roles in the Finnish construction sector, including serving as CEO and Chief Technology Officer at Puurakentajat Group Oy from 2018 to 2023, and continues his work in advancing timber construction at SRV Group Plc.   

Leino has contributed to a number of significant projects in Finland, including Helsinki Central Library (Oodi), Supercell headquarters, Wood City Jätkäsaari, and Katajanokan Laituri. His experience covers both commercial and public developments, with a strong focus on CLT, LVL, and glulam structures, from concept development through procurement and execution.  

In addition to project work, Mikko is actively involved in developing the timber construction sector. He has been recognized by the Finnish Ministry of the Environment for his contribution to advancing wood construction and regularly shares his expertise through industry events, publications, and collaboration with academic institutions.   

His work is driven by a commitment to improving the efficiency, sustainability, and scalability of timber construction, and by a strong network across the Nordic and European timber industry.

Henna Helander is a renowned architect, urban development leader, and former President of the Finnish Association of Architects (SAFA), with extensive public-sector leadership experience.

Henna Helander

Henna Helander is an architect and project development professional with more than two decades of experience across urban development, architecture, and the built environment. Her background combines design expertise with extensive leadership experience in both the public and private sectors.

She has held a range of senior roles, including Chief Executive Officer, Head of Building Control for the City of Helsinki, and President of the Finnish Association of Architects (SAFA). In these positions, she has worked closely with public authorities, developers, investors, and other stakeholders, building a strong understanding of how large-scale projects are initiated, planned, and delivered.

Her work spans architectural design, project development, and client-side construction management, with particular experience in complex urban and housing projects. She has led and contributed to major developments such as WeeGee in Espoo, large-scale housing projects in Helsinki, and the Laajasalo wooden church project, as well as international work in Germany, the UK, and Portugal.

Helander’s expertise includes early-stage planning, feasibility studies, and multidisciplinary project coordination, along with a strong understanding of timber construction from concept development through implementation planning.

Her approach is characterized by integrating design, strategy, and execution, bringing together different stakeholders and disciplines to support the development of sustainable, functional, and well-coordinated built environments.

Marco Casagrande is an award-winning architect, environmental artist, and professor known internationally for his pioneering work in biourbanism and sustainable design.

Marco Casagrande

Marco Casagrande is a Finnish architect, environmental artist, social theorist, writer, and professor of architecture. In his work, he brings together architecture, urban research, and environmental thinking, exploring the relationship between cities, nature, and human activity. 

He serves as Vice-President of the International Society of Biourbanism and leads the cross-disciplinary research centre Ruin Academy, developed in collaboration with Aalto University’s Sustainable Global Technologies Centre. Alongside his research and practice, he has held academic roles internationally, including a professorship at the Bergen School of Architecture and visiting positions at multiple universities.  

Casagrande’s work has received international recognition, including the European Prize for Architecture, the CICA Award for conceptual and artistic architecture, and the UNESCO Global Award for Sustainable Architecture.  

His professional work spans architecture, urban design, and experimental projects across a wide range of global contexts. He has completed and contributed to projects in numerous countries, engaging with diverse urban conditions, environmental challenges, and emerging forms of development.  

Through his projects, teaching, and writing, he contributes to new approaches in architecture and urbanism, with a focus on sustainability, interdisciplinary collaboration, and long-term environmental thinking.

Timo Rossi is an investor and advisor with extensive expertise in investment management, venture capital, and intellectual property valuation. He holds an M.Sc. in Economics, an MBA in Finance, and is a Certified Patent Valuation Analyst (CPVA). 

Rossi brings over 20 years of international experience in financial markets, having held senior leadership roles including Head of Equities, Head of Systematic Strategies, and Head of Quantitative Research.
